Allen, Jenna

Jenna Allen passes suddenly on Saturday, July 11, 2026, just 2 days shy of an operation. Jenna had a magic touch and always found a way to make everyone feel loved, special, and welcome. She grew up in Grafton, Ohio and graduated from Midview High School. As a youth her passion for music was clear, as she was Grand Soloist—State of Ohio for Rainbow Girls and active in arts and music.  Holding a dual degree in literature and music from Baldwin-Wallace, Jenna continued to sing and had one of her poems published in a literary journal. Never one to rest on her laurels, she earned an MBA and parlayed that experience into her passion for teaching at Ivy Tech Community College as both a business professor and leader of the pilot arts entrepreneurship series. Jenna and Jeffery met in the summer of 1995, began dating in 1996 and married in 2000. Their lives together took them to Connecticut where she joined the Middletown Chorale and worked as an assistant director for youth theater at Oddfellows Playhouse. September 10th, 1942 -July 16th, 2026 Proceeded into death by her mother and father Margaret and Thomas Reed, and her brother Jeffrey Reed. Survived by her daughters Dianne Engelhart, Beth Zajdel (Mary Davis), and her son Donald Zajdel Jr. (Renee Zajdel). Her grandchildren Thomas Engelhart (Stacy Engelhart), Anthony Zajdel, Alison Davis (Phillip Davis), Nicholas Zajdel, and Rhiannon Zajdel. Her 5 great grandchildren, her brother James Reed, and her sister Kathleen Ongert (Robert Ongret), and her 6 nieces and nephews.

Powers, Janice

With deep sorrow and loving memory, we announce the passing of Janice "Jan" Powers. Jan passed peacefully at the age of 84 at her home in Brook Park, Ohio on June 12, 2026. Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister, friend to all. Jan's many passions included, helping the people she befriended and encountered throughout life. Devout to Christianity and the Scriptures. Reading and the pursuit of knowledge, information and understanding, excelling in Jeopardy and history. Crotchet, puzzles and card games, music, theatre, gatherings and visiting. Preservation of bees and butterflies. Jan was born of humble roots in McClure, Virginia on January 8, 1942. Through hard work, intelligence and dedication she touched the lives of many. Jan's free spirit, ability to follow her own heart, step to her own beat and carve her own path led Jan to her many triumphs, during tough times or against odds Jan did not waver. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Miller, Jean

Mrs. Jean C. (Wells) Miller, 93, of Garfield Heights, Ohio passed away in her sleep, Friday July 3, 2026 at home. Mrs. Miller was born November 4th, 1932 in Preble, NY. She married Laverne "Vern" Howard Miller, July 15, 1950, in East Syracuse, NY.Later, in 1950 (WWII Pvt Laverne Miller was stationed in Ft Dix, NJ first , then Germany. She resided in an apartment above his mom's house until he was honorable discharged. Then they resided at 406 E. Heman St., E. Syracuse, NY, a home that Vern and his father, Howard Miller built. They also had a summer home on DeRuyter Lake. Mrs. Miller stood 4'11" in stature, her work ethics; she never stopped. She had a contagious laugh. Mrs Miller was involved with her children; Multiple Church functions, Girl Scouts of America Leader, Bluebirds, Ballet, tap dancing, building snow forts, and playing cowboys and Indians, army men, cops and robbers, swimming lessons, picnics, camping, and elegant gatherings. Byron Oliver Elie, age 45, passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 24, 2026 after a short illness. Born on May 1,1981, at Booth Memorial Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Byron was the cherished son of Constance Elie and Richard Gabriel Elie. Byron brought a unique light into the world, seeing life through his own beautiful lens and teaching those closest to him the profound value of patience and unconditional love. He shared a deeply tender bond with his mother, and his beautiful habit of always kissing her goodnight will remain a treasured, eternal memory of his sweet and affectionate nature. Byron had a deep love for spiritual things. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he loved the Bible and in his younger years going out in the ministry with the friends. King, Gerald

Gerald L.(Jerry/Papa) King, Parma, Oh, at the young age of 94, passed away surrounded by family after complications related to health issues. Jerry was born on September 7th, 1932 and hailed from Malone, New York. He found his way to Ohio after serving in the Army during the Korean War where he started his very large family. Jerry was a caring, honorable man who made everyone smile and feel loved just with his kind heart and funny sense of humor. Jerry loved his faith in God, playing cards, watching westerns, and food....lots of good food. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, grandson, Justin(JJ)King, son James Rickard Sr., and more recently, his son Ronald King and daughter, Geraldine (Daniel)Scarbro. Napp, Neeme

Neeme Napp, 89, of Westlake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026. Neeme was a devoted husband, loving family member, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Carol; sister, Irja Heller; brother, Lembit (Lynne) Napp; stepdaughter, Margaret Flachbart; stepson, Robert Wohlgemuth; and grandsons, Robert Wohlgemuth and Adam Flachbart. Neeme dedicated many years to his career, retiring from American Greetings after 44 years of service. He also retired from the Cleveland Metro Parks after 14 years, where he continued to share his commitment and work ethic. Neeme was also one of the biggest supporters, caregivers for many people in his life, and never had a enemy with anyone throughout his 89 years of being here He will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he touched, and the memories he created with those who loved him. No services will be held.

Segulin, William

It is with great sadness that the families of William (Bill) Segulin announce his passing on June 26, 2026.  Bill was born on February 29, 1940 to Gasper and Theresa, the youngest of six siblings.  He is survived by his loving children, William (Jill), Mary Rose, David (Christina) and James.  His grandchildren, Cassandra, Katherine, Maxwell (Harley), Nikola, William, Helena and Maria.  He is also survived by his twin brother, Richard.  Bill and Rich were the first recorded twins born on Leap Year in Cuyahoga County.  Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed traveling and vacationing with the love of his life, his best friend, and wife of over 56 years Michelina (Mickey), who passed on December 26, 2020.  Bill was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor and will be remembered kindly by all who knew him.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, George William Spanagel passed at the remarkable age of 102.  George was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea-Ruth (Franz), his parents, Catherine and George J. Spanagel, his sisters Catherine Grega, Dorothy Fike, Marion Nikolajczyk, and their spouses, granddaughter Shaunna Zarlinga and grandson Adam Garapic.  He is survived by his sister Jean Mattson (Lawrence, deceased), his four children Karen Pritchard (Robert), Judge Kenneth Spanagel, Christine Garapic, and Eric Spanagel.  He is also survived by four grandchildren Virginia Beaty, Benjamin Beaty (Liv), Amy Garapic, Lindsay Spanagel, and seven great grandchildren Lillian Beaty, Charlotte Beaty, Mazzy Beaty, Alec Zarlinga, Alli Zarlinga, Avery Zarlinga (Victoria), and Blaine Rick.  George was born on February 19, 1924, and was raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  He graduated from West Tech High School.  He joined the Navy and served for two years during WW II as a machinist mate working on PT boats in the Pacific Theater.  Taking advantage of the GI Bill, George graduated from Western Reserve University where he got his Bachelor of Business Administration and soon became a CPA.  On September 14, 1946, he married Rhea-Ruth Franz and in September 2021 they celebrated 75 years of marriage.  He continued his ...Read More

Szekely, Hedwig

Hedwig Maria Szekely (née Wiesler) passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by her cherished photographs, beloved books and loving family. Hedy was born on March 13, 1927, to Isabella and Dr. Fritz Wiesler in Graz, Austria. She spent her childhood in Graz, where her father practiced medicine and owned a hospital. During World War II, her family lost the hospital and endured significant hardship. At the age of 18, Hedy married her first husband, Dr. Charles Wimmer. Following the birth of their first son, Charles, the family emigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities and a brighter future. After the birth of their second son, Christopher, Hedy later married Imre Szekely. Together they made their home in Lakewood, Ohio, where they welcomed their son, Emery.  Hedy enjoyed a successful career as a licensed beautician, specializing in skincare and facial treatments. In her later years, she discovered a passion for ballroom dancing, earning countless awards and competition titles.
