FARMER, AARON Aaron Michael Farmer passed away on December 16, 2013 at his residence in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on December 18, 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio and lived and attended school in Lakewood, Ohio. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School, where he lettered in track and field and football. Aaron pursued his interest in cooking by attending and graduating from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute with a degree in Culinary Arts. He enjoyed sports and getting together with friends, spending time with his son Caleb, his work as a chef, and adding his special touches to preparing meals at family gatherings. Aaron is survived by his son, Caleb Sutton, Cleveland, Ohio; his parents, Christine Farmer, Louisville, KY and Frank Hanna-Williams, Nehalem, OR; Grandparents, Judge and Shirley Carter, Garfield Heights, OH; Aunt, Dana Carter, Cleveland, OH and Cousin, Bryaune Carter, Cleveland, OH; Step-brothers Joel Plagenz, Portsmouth, NH and Geo Beach, Homer, AK; Step-Sisters Nicole Fraser, Bay Village, OH and Sarah Liepert, Lincoln, MA. SHUMWAY, JULIA Julia Margaret Shumway, 64, of Westlake, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 after a three-year battle with lung cancer. Julia was born to the late Rev. Archibald Dixon and Roona Rollit, February 19, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Julia was a National Merit Finalist and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Denison University in 1970. Julia married John Shumway in 1972, they settled in Columbus, Ohio and later moved to Westlake, Ohio. Julia is survived by her husband John; her three children Nathan, Thomas, and Margot; and her sister Sheila Tetler. She is also survived by her three cherished grandchildren: Adam, Jack and Luke. Julia began her career as an educator with developmentally challenged adults, and she later taught Graphic Arts at Cuyahoga Community College. She carried her enthusiasm for education into the private sector at Ernst and Young, Intellinex, and ACS where she managed teams of instructional designers. Most recently she served as the eLearning Manager at The Cleveland Clinic Education Institute. McDOUGALL, GALE J. GALE J. McDOUGALL, of Lakewood, formerly of Hiram, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 after a defiant battle with cancer. She was 64 years old. Gale was a restless, hard-working yet accommodating woman who exemplified the American Dream. Gale grew up in Maumee, Ohio. She moved to and attended Kent State University where she met and married the love of her life, Charles. She worked her way through college, having four children along the way. Gale was an entrepreneur and owned three different businesses; The Red Radish Restaurant in Kent, The Tree House, a children’s clothing store in Aurora and McDougall Productions, Inc. in Cleveland. She took great pride in her work for the Cleveland Orchestra’s Star-Spangled Spectacular and Tower City’s outstanding Christmas airship display. Mrs. McDougall also secured her nursing degree and became a labor and delivery nurse for Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland. Always an active member of the community, Mrs. McDougall served as an on-call nurse for Hiram College and as the Vice-President and then President for the Crestwood School District Sports Boosters.
