GILL

GILL, KENNETH KENNETH GILL, 92, died on June 26. He was born on Dec. 11, 1920 in Jackson, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Alberta, children Susan, Larry, and Amy, grandchildren Matthew and Mandy, and great grandchildren Cal and Lucy. A WWII Navy veteran and proud graduate of the University of Michigan, he worked as a chemist for the BF Goodrich Research Center. He embraced life and enjoyed many hobbies including home renovation, bee keeping, wine making, gardening, archery, ham radio, and gem polishing. He enjoyed numerous adventurous canoe trips and bike rides with his 2 younger brothers and traveled the world with his wife. He was an active member of Olmsted Community Church and a member of many civic organizations. He was former president and member of the Olmsted Falls Board of Education for 20 years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Olmsted Community Church, 7853 Main Street, Olmsted Falls, Ohio 44138. KELLY, NANCY NANCY KELLY,83, of Westlake, passed away on June 23, 2013 peacefully in her sleep. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Kelly and a son Peter Schmidt. She is survived by her son Michael Schmidt (Sharon) of Nevada City, CA., sister Judy Burns of Morton Grove, IL., and Donnie (Nancy) of Parker, CO. Surviving grandchildren include Alison, Ann, Jenny, and David. She also had great-grandchildren Channing and Jack, numerous nieces and nephews as well as dear friends Joan Foley of Glenview, IL., and Kathy Hanna of Cleveland. Nancy was born Nancy Lou Boodel in Chicago, IL in 1930. She and her family moved to Crystal Lake, IL, where she attended Crystal Lake High School before the family moved to Evanston, IL, in 1945. Nancy graduated in 1948 from Evanston Township High School. In 1961, she moved to Cleveland with her husband and two children. Nancy began a 25-year career at The Cleveland Plain Dealer where she was the first woman to become Supervisor of the Call Center and she finished her career as Special Promotions Supervisor. MARTIN, ALEXANDER LEE ALEXANDER LEE MARTIN, 25, went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2013. Beloved son of Dina M. Jones and Terry L. Martin. Beloved brother of Ivana V. Zak and Veronika V. Zak. Beloved grandson of Shirley C. Jones, Loving father of Javon D. Quinn. Alexander is also survived by Sarah Gildzyn, the entire Jones family, the Martin family, and many, many friends. Alexander graduated from Olmsted Falls High School but was widely known at Lakewood High School where he was the star of the football and basketball teams. His favorite was basketball as he called himself, "the unknown hooper." Alexander had a caring and gentle heart, which his friends fondly express. GARDNER, ANDREW W. ANDREW W. GARDNER (Andy), 73 of Olmsted Falls, Ohio passed away from ALS on June 4, 2013 at his home. Memorial services will be held on June 11, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Olmsted Community Church. Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery on June 14, 2013 at 2:30pm. Andrew was born in Etna, PA to Frank & Alma Gardner on August 20, 1939. A US Army veteran, he worked as a driver salesman for Frito-Lay for 39 years and earned the National Frio-Lay award for volunteer community service. He was active in the Teamsters Local 52 until his retirement in 2002. He served as Steward, Recording Secretary and Vice President. Andy was a Phys Ed teacher from 1967-72 at St. Casimir’s and was twice CYO Coach of the Year. While he was a member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities, he founded and served as president of a committee that designed and built the Mary Gardner Memorial Playground for multi-handicapped children. JONES, JANE JANE FEICK JONES, 79, of Cleveland Heights, died suddenly May 20, 2013 at Judson Park after a short illness. She was born in Sandusky, Ohio. Daughter of the late Evangeline (nee Kugel) and Richard Feick. Beloved wife of the late Mario C. Jones, loving mother of Karin (Patrick) of Cleveland Heights, Justin (Marianne) and the late Brian, dear grandmother of Kyle of Austin, Texas. Jane was a talented artist, musician and gardener. She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Fine Arts and began her career as a graphic artist, creating ads for Higbee, Halle and May Co. She was an active member of the Western Reserve Herb Society for 23 years and spent hundreds of hours at the Cleveland Botanical Garden helping maintain the "Herb Knot" and was famous for her pressed flower cards and candles that were sold at the Herb Fair every fall. Her love of learning led her to join Senior Scholars at CWRU, and her desire to keep fit led her to the water aerobics class at Judson Park, where the "Water Babes" became her second family for 15 years.
