Earline M. Andrey, age 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family, who remained by her side during her final moments.

Earline was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Kenneth, and her son, Jeffrey. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Patrick) Whelan and Tracey (Jeffrey) Medley; her grandchildren, Cheryl Andrey (Randall Slaughter); Madisen Medley and Austen Medley, who lovingly knew her as Nana; and her great-grandson, Miles, who lovingly knew her as GG.

Earline had a remarkable mind for numbers. She worked as a calculator at NASA and spent more than 20 years at National City Bank, beginning as a Teller and working her way up to Branch Manager. She was happiest when serving others and dedicated 22 years of her life to volunteering at UH St. John Medical Center. You may have seen her at the front desk greeting you with her smile.

She loved getting together with others and especially enjoyed time at the Senior Center or Lunch Bunch gatherings. She carried her sharp mind and competitive spirit into the many games she loved to play, especially Rummikub, Pinochle, and Bridge. She was also an avid watcher of the Game Show Network and enjoyed putting her knowledge and quick thinking to the test.

Her greatest passion was her family. Earline had a special way of making every holiday and birthday feel meaningful and memorable. She and Kenneth were the most gracious hosts, always opening their home and their hearts to family and friends. They were also the best listeners, offering their time, attention, and wisdom to those they loved.

Earline was truly one of a kind. She had a remarkable ability to put others before herself. She always asked about you and genuinely wanted to know how you were doing. Her sincere interest in people was a rare and beautiful quality—a lost art that made everyone she encountered feel seen, valued, and cared for. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and never took herself too seriously. Her ability to laugh, enjoy the moment, and make others smile was part of what made her so special.

Please join us in celebrating Earline’s life on Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 25200 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A reception will follow at noon.
