Jerry “Jay” Wayne Hager passed away on September 6th, 2023, at the age of 34. Born on May 16th, 1989, in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the cherished son of Virginia Hager and Richard Persinger; loving father to Aria (Austin) Rose Hager and Jerry Wayne Hager Jr.; beloved brother of John Hager (Katy), Terri Mangeri (Steve), Robert Ferrell, Tammy Self (Tim), Rick Persinger (Wendy), Benji Persinger (Linda), and Jeremy Persinger. He was a dear uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to many.

Throughout his life, Jay demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making others smile, and would go to great lengths to help anyone in need. He had the ability to find humor in even the most challenging situation. Jay’s kindness knew no bounds. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and even strangers. In addition to his selflessness, he possessed a warm and compassionate heart. His presence alone could lighten even the heaviest of hearts and bring a sense of peace to those around him.

While our hearts ache with the loss of such a unique individual, we find solace in the memories we shared and the impact he had on our lives. In honor of Jay, may we strive to make the world a brighter place, just as he did, by spreading laughter and extending a helping hand to those in need.

Jay was preceded in death by his niece, Laura Self, mother, Virginia Hager, father, Richard Persinger and brother, Robert Ferrell. We pray you are resting in peace and rejoined in heaven with all our lost loved ones. Your laughter will echo in our hearts forever. We will miss and love you always.
