Matthew Russell, 55, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2024. While heart disease claimed his life too soon, he is now at peace in heaven with the Lord.
Matt was the loving son of Richard (deceased) and Christine, beloved brother of Kim, Jennifer, Julie, and Donnie, and dear uncle of Cara, Jacob, Ryan, Isabelle, Lilly, and Abby.
Matt lived a bold life and he touched the lives of many. In his younger years, Matt adventured to many different corners of the world and made friends with many different people. Anyone who had the privilege to know him knew that he cared so much for others. Matt worked at Lake Recovery in the past, using his own life experience to help many there and in numerous AA groups as they overcame addiction. Matt was a lover of all animals, but his dog Bailey was the most special of all. Additionally, he was a deep thinker and found special meaning in poetry and music. His passion for Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac is unmatched by any. Matt’s family was truly his rock, and he cared very much for them. His bear hugs and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all. A memorial service is planned for July 26 at 6:00 pm at Pilgrim Church in Chardon.
My heart goes out to all of you.
