Peter Sadivnychy (December 24,1942 – May 8, 2026)

Peter Sadivnychy, age 83, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born in Berlin, Germany, on December 24, 1942, to the late Daniel and Valentina (nee Opadtschy) Sadiwnytschy, Peter’s early life was marked by the resilience that defined him. After surviving WWII and years in European displaced persons camps, his family immigrated to the United States in 1951. They settled in Cleveland, sharing tenement housing with other families until they could establish a home of their own.

In 1961, Peter proudly became a U.S. Citizen and enlisted in the Army. Serving from 1961 to 1964 as a Private E-1 and Marksman in the 3rd Armored Division, his military service remained a point of immense lifelong pride. Following his discharge, Peter embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, driving his Volkswagen Bug across the country on Route 66. He loved recounting the time he flipped his VW, only for locals to help him roll it back over so he could drive away toward his next adventure.

Upon returning to Cleveland, Peter began working for Arnold Wholesale, where he met the love of his life, Lynn Sharon (nee Brown). They married on May 11, 1968, and shared 35 beautiful years and two daughters before her passing in 2003. Peter later enjoyed a long career with Knall Beverage, delivering Coors Beer; he was a man who truly never met a stranger and seemed to know someone everywhere he went.

In retirement, Peter’s world revolved around his family. He spent his golden years happily chauffeuring his grandchildren to activities and babysitting his youngest grandson—never once complaining about a diaper change. He was a constant, supportive presence who was always there whenever his family needed him.

Peter was the devoted husband of the late Lynn Sharon; beloved father of Kristin L. Schill (Daniel) and Kerry Braskie (Michael); and cherished grandfather of Kassie (Fiancé Michael Cripe), Zachary, Luke, and Jacob. He was the brother of Daniel Sadivnychy and the late Halyna Desler, a dear uncle to many, and the longtime companion of Liz Miller.

For the past 20 years, Peter found wonderful companionship with Elizabeth “Liz” Miller. Together, they enjoyed trips to Chicago and Florida, witnessed a shuttle launch, and spent many happy afternoons at the German Club and German Central.
