Barbara A. Crawford age 88, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Arthur L. Crawford. As a mother, she was a beacon of light to G. Angelo Crawford (Patricia), Angela S. Lewis-Holt, Felicia C. Crawford, and honorary daughter (niece) Noel A. Cummings. She was an awesome and beloved “Granny” to Brandon Lewis, Latasha Bailey (Brian), Brittanny Lewis, Mark Holt Jr., Marcella Holt, Nijah Crawford, and Aujah Crawford, and a cherished and loving great “Granny” to Yasmine Riley, Christian Lewis, Truth Perkins-Ray, Sean Lewis, Jaedyn Porter, Brandon “Jr.” Mack, Messiah Crawford, and Rylah Swain. Barbara was a caring presence in the lives of her brothers, sisters, in-laws, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. There is nothing that can replace the sadness and grief experienced by family and friends on this occasion of great loss, but the memories of her deep appreciation for family times and holidays will be a constant source of comfort that will last forever.
Barbara found joy and delight from cooking huge and often elaborate meals for her family and welcomed guests, and made everyone feel like family. Her long battle with multiple disabilities did not deter her from living a full life. She was a woman of great faith and her belief that Jesus was by her side and was the source of her great strength. She was very appreciative of her brother Daniel J Brinson Sr. and his wife Barbara for their love, and was deeply grateful that they continued the tradition of hosting family celebrations and holiday dinners. And no birthday could be considered complete without her singing the “Happy Birthday” song to the family member.
Barbara’s light will never dim, and will continue to shine, through all the stories she shared, and the many happy memories created over her lifetime. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine.
A celebration of her life will be held in Montgomery, Alabama, on a date to be determined.
