Philip G. Hays

January 24, 1953 – September 30, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Phil Hays, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the age of 73, surrounded by his girls.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of almost 51 years, Patty (née Brennan), and his daughters, Colleen (Kevin Koch) and Bridget (Brett Monthei).

Phil was born on January 24, 1953, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Joan (née Joecken) and Robert Hays. One of six children, Phil was a great brother to his siblings Michael (deceased), Diane (Johnnie Johnson), Tim (Maryann), Mary [Weens] (Mike Schuster), and Patti. 

Phil was creative and had a brain many aspire to have. The Kirby Co. was lucky to have his engineering skills for 37 years. Outside of work, Phil honed his skills in woodworking, plumbing, electrical work, and mechanics, and he even completed a full remodel of his and Patty’s ranch home, transforming it into a two-story residence, a testament to his determination, skill, and vision.

He enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, road trips to the Outer Banks and Finger Lakes, a nice glass of wine, telling a good story, and spending time with his family and friends. 

A fierce friend, supportive sibling, loving father, and adoring husband, he will be dearly missed.
