Schoch, Janice

Janice Ruth Schoch (nee Walker), age 94, passed peacefully from this world, into God’s welcoming embrace. She is now reunited with her dear husband, Kenneth (passed 7/23/2013). She was lovingly cared for by her family, friends, neighbors, church (Prince of Peace Lutheran, Westlake) and staff of Village of the Falls, (Olmsted Falls) and Wellspring Hospice. Jan maintained her faith and a positive outlook on life as she navigated the changes in her health and abilities. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Jan is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (and many wonderful friends): Catherine Schoch McKergow (New Zealand), Kirsty & Ian (Jack, Charlotte), Erin & Mike (Jonah, Michelle),Felicity & Hugh (Esme, Max), James & Frances Schoch,Bryan & Cassie (Gigi), Daniel & Amy Schoch, David, Autumn, Kevin, Annalise, and Josh. A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday, 8/28/2024 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 28455 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, Ohio 44145 . Streepy, Jack

The Honorable Jack B. Streepy passed away on July 30, 2024 due to complications from Alzheimers. He was born in Rockford, Illinois on February 27th, 1939 to Freeland Brown Streepy(deceased) and Viola Mae Wright(deceased). He is survived by a son, Matthew, from his marriage to Rebecca(Beckett) Daniel and by four daughters, Joey(Rich), Anne(Dan), Cathy, and Rie, and son, Steve, from his marriage to Carla O’Day. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Caden, Carly, Gabbi, Riley, Gen, Jack, Logan, Trevor, and Madison, and by his sister Jean and her children: Terri, Tracy and Todd. Jack treated everyone he met with dignity and respect and always gave a warm, sincere greeting-whether chatting with a server or conferring with a fellow magistrate-when Jack asked, “Hello, how are you?” He genuinely wanted to know. William (Bill) Sterk , age 86, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2024. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Bonkowski) for over 63 years. Dear father of Karen Banning, Ken Sterk (Renee), Sandy Arndt (Wayne) and Lisa McTaggart (Dan). Cherished grandfather of Mitch, Olivia and Logan. Devoted brother of five sisters and two brothers. Loving uncle and friend to many. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, August 17, 10 A.M. at St. Bridget of Kildare Parish in Parma. Family will receive visitors inside the church entrance at 9:15 A.M. before the mass. Hannan, Thomas

Thomas J. Hannan “Wiz,” age 70, of Cleveland, OH, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Beloved father of Devon; son of the late Thomas and Marion Hannan; brother of Jane Murphy (Tom), Ed Hannan (Karen), and the late Kay Bazelides (Joe); dear uncle and Godfather to many. Known reverently for his lifelong friendships and love of baseball, music, and writing, he, above all, was most proud of being a dad—and he was the best one there ever was. A storyteller at heart, his life was filled to the brim with experiences one can only dream of, and his belly roared with laughter each time he told the tales of his rowdy, incredible friends. After graduating from Saint Edward High School (Class of 1972), he went on to pursue a degree in film at Xavier University, later working as an optician and salesman for his own business, Hannan Design & Specialties in Geneva, OH. Tom’s life was defined by kindness, reliability, and fatherhood. He will be missed by all and loved for longer than forever. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brendan Parish, 4242 Brendan Lane, North Olmstead, on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m.

Gornik, Lawrence

Lawrence S Gornik, known to all as Larry, passed away at his home on July 17, 2024 in Cleveland, OH. Larry was born on December 10, 1952 to Leonard J Gornik (deceased) and Olga Gornik (nee Poje) (deceased). Brother to Leonard F Gornik (deceased) and Kathy Gornik; Uncle to Erik, Heather, Natasha, Deborah, Christopher, Aimee and Ryan; great uncle to 11. Larry was kind, loving, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a huge Cleveland sports fan and generous in every way. Larry will be missed by many in the Cleveland community. Burial will be private, memorial service at a future date.

Marshall, Julia Ann (Rose)

Julia Ann (Rose) Marshall passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2024 in Cleveland OH, six weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. She was married to Marion Marshall for 66 years when he died in 2022. Julia is survived by her son William, daughter in law Patricia, grandsons James and John, granddaughter in law Ljubinka, great granddaughter Rosalind, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Julia worked as a registered nurse, primarily in surgery. She volunteered at the library and at hospice in Findlay. After moving to Cleveland she enjoyed watching her grandsons play soccer, baseball, football and fencing. Julia continued her volunteer work; at Lakewood Hospital and as a docent at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Julia and Marion enjoyed travel, Cleveland Indians baseball, Ohio State sports and spending time with family, especially at the Holidays. The family thanks Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kind care. A celebration of Julia’s life will be held at a later date.

Robert Ted Buchwald, 67, of Independence, Ohio passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 in Strongsville Ohio at Thomas P. Perciak Family Residence Hospice after a short stay in Southwest General Hospital. Robert was born in Garfield Hts. on July 6, 1957 to Erwin Buchwald (deceased) and Thea Buchwald, (née Rembert), (deceased). Brother of Richard (deceased) (Jeri); brother of Rodney (Katherine); sister of Barbara (Michael) Spoerke (née Buchwald). Uncle to Stephen (Sharon), Mathew (Julie); Alissa (Michael) Kantor (née Spoerke); Cory Spoerke, Christopher Spoerke. Great uncle to Gabriella, Isabella, Colson and Sydney. Robert graduated from Independence High School in 1976. Robert was a nerd, he built his first computer in the 1970’s, he held an Extra Class amateur radio license KA8CFC. He worked for Cuyahoga Community College part time as IT support for a number of years. He continued to build computers throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of computers with his nephews. He also enjoyed his AM General M35A2 deuce and a half. Which he and his older brother drove in many Home Day parades in Independence Ohio. Internment at Maple Shade Cemetery Independence, Ohio.

Donnelly, Robert

April 10, 1940 – June 20, 2024 Robert Francis Donnelly, born on April 10, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully in Lakewood, Ohio on June 20, 2024 at the age of 84. He was the son of the late John William Donnelly and Violet Agnes Meier. Bob served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force from February 12, 1960, to March 1, 1980. After twenty years of dedicated service, he retired with an honorable discharge. Bob was married to Sharon Manning Long, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his step-children, William Zeuch (Janice Zeuch) and Kristen Brown (Robert Brown), as well as his step-grandchildren, Nathan Zeuch, Gretchen Zeuch, Lauren Zeuch, Tyler Brown (Sabrina Stanforth) and Kelsey Brown. Known for his love of driving, Bob found great joy in owning and driving his Mini-Cooper, a passion that brought him much happiness and many fond memories. Bob's life was marked by service, love, and a sense of adventure. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Russell, Matthew

Matthew Russell, 55, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2024. While heart disease claimed his life too soon, he is now at peace in heaven with the Lord. Matt was the loving son of Richard (deceased) and Christine, beloved brother of Kim, Jennifer, Julie, and Donnie, and dear uncle of Cara, Jacob, Ryan, Isabelle, Lilly, and Abby. Matt lived a bold life and he touched the lives of many. In his younger years, Matt adventured to many different corners of the world and made friends with many different people. Anyone who had the privilege to know him knew that he cared so much for others. Matt worked at Lake Recovery in the past, using his own life experience to help many there and in numerous AA groups as they overcame addiction. Matt was a lover of all animals, but his dog Bailey was the most special of all. Additionally, he was a deep thinker and found special meaning in poetry and music.
