Hedwig Maria Szekely (née Wiesler) passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by her cherished photographs, beloved books and loving family. Hedy was born on March 13, 1927, to Isabella and Dr. Fritz Wiesler in Graz, Austria. She spent her childhood in Graz, where her father practiced medicine and owned a hospital. During World War II, her family lost the hospital and endured significant hardship. At the age of 18, Hedy married her first husband, Dr. Charles Wimmer. Following the birth of their first son, Charles, the family emigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities and a brighter future. After the birth of their second son, Christopher, Hedy later married Imre Szekely. Together they made their home in Lakewood, Ohio, where they welcomed their son, Emery. Hedy enjoyed a successful career as a licensed beautician, specializing in skincare and facial treatments. In her later years, she discovered a passion for ballroom dancing, earning countless awards and competition titles.
