George Thomas Hrbek was born June 20, 1931, in New York City, to George Edward Hrbek and Bertha Hrbek (nee Bozinka Kubelka). He died at home on February 19, 2023, surrounded by his family. George was a community activist, passionate advocate for racial and economic justice, and preacher of an inclusive, life-affirming faith. George was raised in New Jersey in a lively, intergenerational Czech family populated by elders with unorthodox politics. He witnessed to this childhood as anchoring him in the values he carried for a lifetime. As a teenager, he met an unassuming, blue-jean clad man on the streets who turned out to be a Lutheran minister. The Rev.Arthur Hawlicheck spoke a clear message that further validated what George learned from his family: “You are created by God and there's nobody who can add to your worth as a human being, and there's nobody who can take away from your worth. On Thursday February 9, 2023 ​Our Dear Mother Deanne Nestor passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife to Fredrick Nestor (Deceased) and is survived by her son Kevin (Laura) and Thomas. Has three grandchildren Patrick (Beatrice) Nestor– Brian (Teague) Nestor– Erin Nestor and has four great grandchildren Jack – Lewis – Ellen and Finnegan. Her career was mostly in accounting and corporate book keeping and enjoyed many years performing those talents for Eaton Center and the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio. ​She loved spending time cooking traveling and boating over the years and was active in the VFW hall in Strongsville. She enjoyed her dogs and all the dogs in her family. David Clare Daugherty passed away at his home at Terminal Tower Apartments, 50 Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio, on January 19, 2023. Born in Butler, Pa on July 30,1955, he was 67 years old. An accomplished organist, vocal coach, conductor and baritone, with an education from Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, as well as Carnegie Mellon University, David was the Director of Musical Arts at The Old Stone Church, Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio, at his passing. Sandra ( who preferred to be called Sandie) Kay Martin grew her angel wings and is no longer in pain. She joined family in Heaven on January 29, 2023 with her family at her side. Sandie fought a 6 year battle with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to move onto the next treatment. When anyone else would have been broken, Sandie stayed strong and never gave up hope. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quitting. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. She fought all the way until the end. Sandie loved her family, spoiling her grandkids, and Winnie the Pooh. After graduating high school, Benedictine 1971, Isa moved to California for two years. He moved back to Cleveland, but soon after moved to Washington. After several years, he then moved back to Cleveland, married, and had two loving children. Isa attended Howard university, Cleveland state, and took a college course in California. He also attended aviation school. While in Washington he worked at the library of congress. Isa was a taxicab driver for several years in Cleveland. He was also a property manager for his father’s rental property before retiring. Ilsa was a great dad that loved spending as much time as possible with his kids.
