James L Adams, age 85 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James L Adams, beloved husband of Patricia M Adams (née Jindra), and loving father of Kathleen M Rockas (Daniel), Mary C Baker (Bruce Keller), and Margaret L Kohlmyer (Ernest). James was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Adams (née Isabell) and brother Robert J Adams. He is survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his sister Donna C Altzner of Palm City, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. James was born June 7th, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed peacefully at his home on June 21st, 2025, surrounded by his family. July 18, 1956 – June 21, 2025 Douglas Keith Albers, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, after a short illness, in Lakewood, Ohio, surrounded by his wife and children. Born at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and raised in Rocky River, Ohio, Doug was a proud graduate of Rocky River High School. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Baldwin Wallace University, where he was a devoted member of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO). Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Donald S. Albers and Shirley A. Albers. Douglas Charles Buell, 67, of Northfield, went home to be with the Lord June 8th, 2025. Proceeded in death by his mother, Vilma M. Buell (Nee Lenese) and father, Douglas Baker Buell. He is survived by his sisters Shirley Crowe (Nee Buell) and Carol (Gene) Brian; children Stephanie, Aimee (Marty), Jennifer (David), and Douglas (Jennifer); grandchildren Anna, Jeremy, Claudia, Mason, Victoria, Gavin and Logan. Doug was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, taking trips on his Harley whenever he could. He had many accomplishments in his life including 10 years driving with Greyhound, and numerous mechanic jobs. He was always willing to help someone. Active in AA for 19 years, his story helped countless others seek their own paths. While he had many things he loved in life, nothing meant more to him than his children and grandchildren, and his husky, Lady. Keeping with Doug’s giving spirit, his remains will be donated to Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) so memorial services will be announced at a later date. Barbara E. Kayler Whitcomb, age 106, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at Western Reserve Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio. Born on August 9, 1918 in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of Samuel Earl and Edith Lenore (Mather) Kayler. Barbara graduated from Alliance High School and attended Kent State University. Barbara was married to Merle H. “Mert” Whitcomb for 58 years until his passing in 2000. She is survived by her children: Bob (Maria) Whitcomb of Santa Clarita, CA; Janice (Ken) Dunn of North Olmsted, OH; and Sandy McDaniel of Indianapolis, IN. Grandchildren include Mindi Dunn Bub, Kristen (Jonathon) Bowen, Geoff Dunn, Adam (Jocelyn) Whitcomb, and Cory (Autumn) Dunn. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and was preceded in death by her brother, Bob (Marge) Kayler. Barbara was an 18 year resident of Independence Village in Avon Lake, Ohio. Cain, Mary Esther (Laub) passed away peacefully at age 93 at the Lutheran Home in Westlake, Ohio on May 16th, 2025. Born November 3, 1931 in Toledo Ohio to Esther and Karl Laub. Preceded in death by parents, husband Walter Chapman Cain, sister Joanne and Brother-in-law Harry Thieman. Mary attended the University of Toledo majoring in Biology After working as a medical assistant she met and married her husband of 62 years Walter Cain. They moved to Bay Village Ohio where they raised 3 sons and were active in their community for over 70 years. She is survived by sons Thomas Cain of Ocracoke Island, NC; David Cain (Becky) of Waynesville Ohio; and Paul Cain (Connie)of Cedarville, Ohio . Lisa Gail Anderson passed away peacefully on Monday March 31, 2025. Our world is somewhat diminished from the loss of her compassion and kindness. Lisa developed a strong character perhaps due to the loss of her father as a little girl of about 8 years old. Lisa was determined to excel and to rely only on herself at which she succeeded admirably in her personal and professional life. Lisa became a Registered Nurse after college in Erie, PA and started her career in the hospital there before moving on to a job in Public Health visiting rural residents in the surrounding district. She was well suited to this type of work due to her caring nature for those less fortunate than herself. Lisa married and got a Public health job with the City of Cleveland. This experience led to a job in the Sheriff’s Department of Cuyahoga County as the Manager of Healthcare at the County Jail. Lisa was responsible for nursing, physicians, pharmacy, contracts and the budget approval before the County Commissioners. Ford and Elizabeth J. (Hicks) Duffield. Ray was preceded in death by his best friend and brother, Kenneth H. Duffield. He is lovingly survived by his wife of eight years, Roxanne M. She was the daughter of Joseph F and Emma Smith of Lakewood (both deceased), and loving sister of Rosemary Smith (deceased), John “Bud” Smith (Patricia) (both deceased), and Joseph F. Jr (Sally).
