ZANDER, PAUL PAUL HERMAN ZANDER of South Euclid, Ohio passed in his sleep on January 13, 2014, a few weeks after celebrating his 98th birthday. He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Ruth; his children Paul A. (Cathy) and Nancy; grandchildren Virginia, David, Jennifer and Jeffrey; and great-grandson Julian. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul M. and Charlotte, and his sisters Emily, Charlotte, Martha and Elizabeth "Betty." He was a professional painter and decorator as well as an avid gardner and ham radio operator. He was known for his sense of humor and sharp dressing. US Navy veteran of WWII from 1944 to 1945. The family will receive friends at Willow Praise Church, 32901 Vine Street, Willowick on January 25 from 2:30-4:30 PM with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, Ohio 44194. FARMER, AARON Aaron Michael Farmer passed away on December 16, 2013 at his residence in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on December 18, 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio and lived and attended school in Lakewood, Ohio. He was a graduate of Lakewood High School, where he lettered in track and field and football. Aaron pursued his interest in cooking by attending and graduating from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute with a degree in Culinary Arts. He enjoyed sports and getting together with friends, spending time with his son Caleb, his work as a chef, and adding his special touches to preparing meals at family gatherings. SHUMWAY, JULIA Julia Margaret Shumway, 64, of Westlake, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 after a three-year battle with lung cancer. Julia was born to the late Rev. Archibald Dixon and Roona Rollit, February 19, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Julia was a National Merit Finalist and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Denison University in 1970. Julia married John Shumway in 1972, they settled in Columbus, Ohio and later moved to Westlake, Ohio. Julia is survived by her husband John; her three children Nathan, Thomas, and Margot; and her sister Sheila Tetler. She is also survived by her three cherished grandchildren: Adam, Jack and Luke. Julia began her career as an educator with developmentally challenged adults, and she later taught Graphic Arts at Cuyahoga Community College. She carried her enthusiasm for education into the private sector at Ernst and Young, Intellinex, and ACS where she managed teams of instructional designers. Most recently she served as the eLearning Manager at The Cleveland Clinic Education Institute.
